Kelley transports the viewer back to the birth place of Superman in the 'Kandors' series exhibiting at the Gagosian London. Playful in his approach, the installation is reminiscent to a family theme park attraction - and in this instance, is not necessarily a bad thing!
This was the first time I had seen Kelley's work and upon viewing it was hard to make sense of. He creates a fantasy labyrinth in which the viewer is free to wonder. There are links to surrealism and the show contains obvious narrative. It was enjoyable but some how did not feel like gallery art. If this was the intent of Kelley, then it certainly was refreshing.
